Lucy Baber Photography offers on-location, natural light photography in the Greater Philadelphia area. I specialize in child, family, and newborn lifestyle portraits. I believe in capturing real moments by creating a fun, relaxed environment for each custom photo shoot.
As an artist, I believe all good art is born from authenticity. That is why photography is much more to me than a job. For nearly a decade, my clients have become friends, and their families have become my calling.
My journey as an artist began and remains in Philadelphia: my home. It is a joy to capture our great city and its marvelous, diverse, accepting people every time I get behind the camera. Working as a child and family therapist after graduating with my Master’s in Counseling from Villanova, I saw so many moments of beauty worth capturing.
That’s when I first picked up a camera.
Finding light and love and truth during uncertain times can be a political act. Let’s illuminate your greatest memories; ones that won’t languish in a forgotten folder on your desktop, but hang proudly in your hallway.
The steady eye contact between new parents and their newborn. The ecstatic giggles of your toddler, playing on the bed, flanked by total love. The protective hand one of your children offers the other before setting off on an adventure.
Let’s shine a light on them -- together.
I believe we can all be activists. Whether it’s your devotion to your kids, your work ethic, or your political drive, we all have gifts to offer the community. For me, it’s through art.
Over the past few years, the turmoil in our world illuminated the connection between my photography and a greater empathy and social awareness. That spark of human connection, captured on camera, lasts forever and won’t be put out.
Inspired by the countless men of color in our greater Philadelphia community who show up for their families with love, tenderness, and dignity every day, I began my latest venture: The 100 Black Dads Project. It’s committed to revealing an unsaid truth: that the photos of families, while unique, are always bound by a common thread of love, regardless of color, creed or circumstance. If you or a friend are interested in joining this ongoing project, please contact me.
I am passionate about my work and love to work with other photographers of all skill levels. I believe all photographers grow stronger when we work together and share our knowledge. I provide one-on-one online and in-person mentorship opportunities, workshops, and learning material to help you unlock your potential.
I began working with aspiring and working photographers who needed the support, empathy, and space to develop their craft. Working together to picture their voice, I developed my own voice as a mentor and artist. If you are interested in joining one of my photography mentorship programs, please contact me.
